known more for their dubby kosmische and psychedelic post-disko, glasgow label invisible inc seem to be wandering closer to the realms of the nightclub dancefloor these days. not that anyone s complaining. with recent outings by strange culture and sordid sound system taking the lead, this one by budapest s bal5000 is quite possibly their most dancefloor friendly release yet. all four cuts inhabit a space somewhere at the very edge of house but are steeped in soaringly cosmic italo-esque synth lines and bubbling, motorik arpeggios reminiscent of early 80s minimal.....the result is a real sonic treat: hypnotically transcendant, yet beautifully melodic, and all solidly underpinned by some seriously low-end sub-bass, tight rhythms and pistol-sharp snares.

canoe is the new label from nyra that finds him indulging his personal musical preferences while still retaining his club-ready tendencies already established on labels such as never learnt, elastic dreams and more. for the second canoe release noface has been invited along to deliver the a-side track, and it s a killer slice of jazz-laced bumping house replete with sax and vibes. where -young larry- plays things fast and loose, nyra s -sisco visco- on the b-side is an unabashed disco burner with a tight-as-you-like beat and plenty of filter-swept samples to keep the party sizzling.

figure 86 finds the label�s headmaster revisiting a dormant classic from 2005, delivering two extended excursions that pick up on the lunatic vibe instilled by the original while each mix provides for a uniquely new experience. sitting on the record�s a-side is the hardspace mix, a sparse and bone dry rhythmic affair, built around the originals characteristic cut-up vocal sample. a hammering thump carries along the track relentlessly, the air of oppression created only amplified by a heavy assault of clangig claps. the digital bundle comes with an even more stripped-back hardspace tool version, making it an excellent surprise to throw in and out of mixes. on the flip faki takes opportunity to show us one of his lesser known sides, taking time to gently develop this deepspace mix into a meandering meditative journey. trading in the vocal for a spaced-out synth opens the track up for the shifting tribal drums to truly work their magic and makes this piece of music feel equally mysterious as it sways with cosmic energy.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production. using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music. the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one. onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.

sheffield newcomer atdhe impressed with his soulful remix of kamal imani s cosmic being on recent monologues records release dialogue vol. 2 . can i borrow a feeling is a classy, stripped-back slab of piano-driven deep house, earl st. groove is atmospheric and chugging with more warm melody abounding, and niche dreams rounds off with a hazy low-slung roller. label boss ben gomori injects earl st groove with a galloping tribal rhythm on his remix, honing in on some of those tasty melodies.

madcap and jaybee team up to create the musical masterpiece called �settle down�. the song starts out rather jazzy, with it�s smooth rhodes keys and heavy cymbal riding drum lines. when the song hits the breakdown, the whole tone of the tune changes. the punchy sub bassline is unleashed and becomes one of the driving forces of the track. echoing reggae style vocals are beautifully weaved into the background of the track, transforming the vibe into a reggae/dub style d&b classic. the amen drums also help to create an intoxicating energy that make this one a sure thing for dance floor mayhem. instant classic!
�hear comes� takes over where �settle down� left off. the song begins with big amen drums, backed with a reggae style skanking guitar chop. during the breakdown, a thoughtful roots reggae vocal sample is introduced that helps lift the track into a true dubwise gem. when the drop hits, the baseline kicks in and begins to wobble and throb behind all the deep atmospherics. the track has a beautiful breakdown, which takes the listener to a more melodic place. after a moment of serenity, the song breaks back into the chaotic old school flavor, which madcap does so well. this one�s a beauty!!

i walk in the dark i hear my steps, fixed, tough echoing, in the water, in the sound in the walls. so lonely, so confused, i sweep that ford of concrete, following a feeble light. i perceive other strides, more heavy, impetuous, that reverberate as well in these thick walls, of putrid water and violent brake-up an unusual calm until that, of such shadow i brush against the limbs, i perceive the essence, another breath indeed, but not of human�s appearance.

after multiple cassette and 12� releases through kastil�s stale in 2016, it�s time for irazu�s latest addition to the series of complex techno works. �shtamm� is a package that contains four original cuts + a remix by specialist of high-end machine music regis. �refused to be found� is a soaring travel through moods and sonic landscapes which at times resonates like a helicopter flying through an inner city estate building. the aesthetic nature of the opening track is extended through �shtamm�. a multi dimensional piece of work that showcases a more submersive side of irazu s broad pallette. �last hours� is a cinematic stroke of vivid pads that sound like they were extracted from a remastered russian thriller classic. regis opens ups the b-side with a rework of �shtamm�. the off-beat machine funk of the remix leaves little of the original mix intact, yet regis has turned it into a staggering piece of ferocity. �torso� is another irazu original that sound like 7.5 minutes of vigorous rhythms and swerving perc elements.

the fourteenth effort in the attic music series is a full ep by roman artist cristiano balducci under his black catcher alias. gossip is a firm and futuristic sounding bundle of modern day techno which spans 3 tracks.

ascended man is the pseudonim for olivier abbeloos, know from t99, quadraphonia,... joins us on this release with a masterpiece. the track connects modern underground electro with the strong and dark newbeat. another floorfiller.
-washing the machince- is the closing track, and a reference to the classic house sound of the warehouse and other early traxx, and still fresh and very newbeat.

gospel disco time again!!!! after the sucess of -the power of you re love- we deceded to pull out a couple more of our gospel disco dancefloor favorites. elbernita -twinkie- clark-terrell ( who was in the the clark sisters before going solo) recorded this beast for the lp ye shall receive power in 1980-81 for armen boladian s sound of gospel records out of detroit (a sub of the mighty westbound records). both tracks featured on the lp only so desperatly need some 45 action. i m not going to try and sell you this one with tales of its history all you need to do is drop the needle (or press the little play icon)..... straight up monster dancefloor destructor.

paul woolford has been seriously spreading his wings of late, becoming omni-present by landing his tracks with ease on labels like xl recordings, running back, houndstooth, hotflush and aus music. not wanting to be shackled by genres, paul comfortably serves up a wide variety of curveballs, from the technoid charge of his 4/4 persuasions to the exhilarating warped hardcore & jungle breaks of his much loved special request project. and so it�s with welcome arms that edible usher him to our release schedule, give him the comfy sofa and let him rip it up with two havoc-inducing cuts that are already a staple in label boss eats everything�s dj sets. title track �chaos� finds paul in a particularly warped mode, bleepy synth pulses oscillate wildly over a granite hard beat as a single sub-bass tone drives the brain-scrambling flurry of modular tones into overdrive. a hydrochloric synth riff settles the bed, but only until the next haul of chaotic blips come firing out of the speakers - highly effective, and possibly deranged warehouse tackle. a future classic. flip side, and woolford shows off some decidedly more soulful chops on �meditate . a vocal hook plays against a dubwise bass line and ascending 909 rides, as a seductive and transcendental string arpeggio creeps to the fore and demands a breakdown of its own, serving up a serious bucket load of emotion. not a dry eye in the house.

it all started with a book, as these things often do: an english anthology of metaphysical poetry from the 17th century, to be exact. which may not sound like the sexiest option on the shelves, but hear us out. the gentleman plowing through those weathered pages happened to be micha&#322,,,,, jacaszek, the polish composer who�s spun dramatic shades of darkness and light into gold for more than a decade now. an absolute master of melancholy, from the trickle-down electronics of treny to the vapor-trailed verses of its looming spiritual cousin kwiaty.

onboard having come up with an annual-ish drop of 12inches since 2010, even brenden aka chmmr set aside the spring of 2016 to challenge himself to a new format: a full-length album. a true nostalgic, he uses compass point-era and early italo sounds for inspiration and attempts to simulate these styles. this makes for a melodic, chuggy and graphic album that belongs a little more in the living room than on the dance floor. with 10 tracks of dusty rhythms and the honest, naive and spacious themes that is brendens signature, its a record designed to signal that todays technological future may not be as different as yesterdays. features a nice-looking cover painting drawn by the late harold cohens aaron program - automation at its finest. hidden behind his chmmr moniker is even brenden, whose summery debut found its way into the world via norwegian psych-disco label luna flicks in 2010. the record became somewhat of a soughtafter item and after making pit stops at relish, dødpop and untz untz records, he landed on prins thomas full pupp in 2014 and have stayed put ever since, all the while enjoying a steady habit of record jocking and the occasional keyboard duty in telephones now-defunct live band. even resides in oslo makes odd waves without vowels.

abstaxion and kasper bjørke return for their second collaboration on dc salas and abstraxions biologic records imprint. matin + nuit is a 3-track ep out in april. biologic records aim to explore the relationship between organic and analogue, natural and urban. this idea of polarity is addressed here through the themes of morning and night. matin is a ten-minute journey through a glistening landscape. celestial arpeggios and subtle dissonances are grounded by a hypnotic bassline and restrained percussion. ivre (drunk) takes an emotive turn. disorienting acid bass winds its way through mournful harmonies and overcast melodies, held together by a spirited rhythmic pattern. �nuit�, naturally, progresses into darker territory. there are familiar elements of disco, but they�ve been mangled to create something far more twisted. drums take the lead, punctuated by assertive bass stabs and ominous chords that howl through cavernous acoustics. matin + nuit explores seemingly familiar themes without the use of cliché, employing a diverse range of sound manipulation techniques to paint vivid imagery.

brainwaltzera debuts on film. the anonymous producer, whose work has has already received online approval from legendary british idm auteur aphex twin, offers up an extended ep for the berlin based imprint. in 2015 a soundcloud profile under the name user18081971 - now identified as belonging to richard d. james, commented on curious brainwaltzera upload quilat spring 1 outtake. the move prompted speculation as to who exactly is behind the music. exquisitely produced and executed in such fine fashion so as to decry pure imitation - there�s plenty to theorise here. regardless of their true creator - which will undoubtedly remain a secret for the time being, the compositions on film006 are of similarly high calibre. varied in approach and marrying both electronic & acoustic elements with ease, the six tracks that comprise the record range from yearning ambient segues and dreamy down tempo grooves to otherworldly krautrock and more direct, dance floor fare - but remain bound tight as a cohesive and functional body of work by a glorious, arcane musicality. whether weaving soft electronic tones in and amongst snappy breaks or detuned drum-machine strikes, the artist�s ear for acoustic harmony is perhaps the pervading theme across the six tracks that make up the aecoba ep, marking it out as an excellent addition to the film labels growing catalogue
